Because each patient is individual, we use a variety of techniques, which are best suited to each patients needs.
Chiropractic Adjustments: Dr. Long, Dr. Yeager and Dr. Seyhoon use Diversified, Activator, Thompson, and Logan Basic techniques in the gentle art of spinal manipulation. These techniques are adapted for the tiny infant all the way up to the large football player.

Acupuncture: Acupuncture is the practice of inserting thin needles into specific body points to improve health and well-being. In recent years, scientific inquiry has begun to shed more light on acupunctures possible mechanisms and potential benefits, especially in treating low back pain, headaches, arthritis, allergies, smoking cessation, and weight loss. Dr. Yeager and Dr. Long are both certified through the Texas Chiropractic Board in acupuncture.

Nutritional Counseling: Dr. Long has additional post-graduate education in nutritional counseling. At West U Wellness, we conduct in-depth, extensive nutritional counseling sessions for our patients who seek this type of advice. We work together to develop a plan for achieving your health goals whether that be weight loss, improving diabetes, reducing cholesterol, alleviating irritable bowel syndrome, or other types of nutritional challenges.
Pediatric & Pregnancy Adjustments: Dr. Long is certified by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association in treating pregnant women with back pain, premature contractions, breech turning, headaches, and back labor. Click here for more information about Pregnancy and Pediatrics.
Cold Laser Therapy: One of our newest treatments, the Microlight ML830 Cold Laser has been approved by the FDA to treat carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, muscle and joint pain, stiffness & more.

Electric Muscle Stimulation: We use interferential, VMS, TENS, and Russian currents to decrease pain, decrease inflammation, increase circulation, or increase strength to impaired muscles.
Exercise: Almost all of our patients are given exercises to do. Each time exercises are recommended, the doctor personally goes over the exercises with the patient and makes sure that they are done correctly. We use mat exercises, Therabands, physioballs, free weights, and balance boards to help improve strength, stamina, flexibility, and balance.

Hot & Cold Packs: In the acute phase of healing, hot and cold packs are utilized to either relax the muscles and increase circulation or decrease inflammation and numb an area. The heat packs we use employ moist heat which penetrates deeper than the dry heat of a heating blanket.
Intersegmental Traction: While the patient is laying on their back, a soothing roller runs up and down the back gently lifting the spine to increase flexibility and decrease disc bulging. This therapy is also known as the spinolator or roller table.
Massage: We have two licensed and experienced massage therapists to provide top-quality therapy services such as Deep Tissue, Sports, Pregnancy, and Swedish massage that often times is covered by health insurance. With Deep Tissue massage, this uses strong and deep kneading compression of the muscles, coupled with trigger point therapy and myofascial release. It is excellent for stress and muscle tension relief. Sports Massage focuses more on a specific area of injury and the therapist would also use a lot of stretching and techniques to restore circulation to the muscle. Pregnancy Massage is safe for those who have just conceived all the way up to delivery and post-partum. We use special pillows and other equipment to make our mommies comfortable, especially when neck, back and hip pain can affect them during this incredible stage of life. Finally, Swedish massage incorporates low strokes along with finger pressure applied both following and across the grain of muscles and tendons to promote relaxation and help improve circulation. And massage therapy works wonderfully with other alternative medicine treatments like chiropractic and acupuncture.
Microcurrent: Microcurrent is a type of electrical muscle stimulation that heals bone fractures. It does this by sending out an electromagnetic field that accelerates the healing of fractures.
Myofascial Release: This is a type of deep, intense manual therapy almost like a deep-tissue massage. It is used to break up adhesions, muscle spasms, and tension knots by working with and against the grain of the muscle while the patient actively stretches the same muscle. Unlike traditional massage, it is not meant to be soothing, but rather therapeutic.
Trigger Point Therapy: Also known as ischemic compression, trigger point therapy entails the doctor pressing down on a muscle knot to cause the muscle to be starved of its blood supply. Once the pressure is released, fresh blood flows quickly through the muscle and pushes out any tension, adhesions, or toxins.
Ultrasound: Therapeutic ultrasound is very different from diagnostic ultrasound which is used to detect pregnancy or internal tumors. With therapeutic ultrasound, an ultrasonic wave passes through an area and induces the ligaments and tendons underneath to heal in an organized fashion. Ultimately it helps increase flexibility and loosen soft tissue. It is wonderful for acute neck or back injuries, herniations, and shoulder, ankle, or knee sprains.
